Ordering guidelines

When should you send out your invitations? Do you need a save the date? Here are some answers to some common questions when it comes to ordering invitations and stationery.

When do you send out wedding invitations?

We recommend starting with your cut off date for catering numbers and then work backwards from there. Allow yourself 2-3 months to mail out your invitations and collect replies. Typically your venue or caterer will have this information in their contract, and you want to allow yourself some wiggle room to chase up missing replies. You can allow for 4-6 weeks for your guests to reply, and if guests are replying by mail, you’ll want to ensure you have time to receive the mail.

When is a good time to order custom wedding invitations?

Ideally, you would order your custom wedding invitations 6 months before your invitation mail out date. Custom design can take 6-10 weeks, and sometimes longer depending on material selection, upgrades, customisation and print finish. We can sometimes accommodate a shorter timeframe, so get in touch if you want to get started.

Do we need to send out a save the date?

Save the dates are highly recommended if you are having a destination wedding, or if a lot of your guests will be travelling for your wedding day. You can send this out as soon as you have your venue and date confirmed. This allows your guests time to make arrangements such as time off work, and to research/book travel. The save the date can include your wedding date, city, country, and if you have a wedding website. If you send out a save the date, this would indicate that the guest will receive an invitation.

How many pieces do you need for your invitation suite?

An invitation suite can be as little or as large as your wedding needs. A two-piece invitation suite includes the invitation and the envelope. This works well if you are using a wedding website to collect replies.

If you are wanting guests to reply back using the mail, you would use a reply card and traditionally include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

If you have additional information you want to share such as important times, accommodation, or transport info, you can include a details card.

The best part, is with custom stationery, you can design this any way you like!
